The first talk was held on 29 April and focused on two decades of archaeological discoveries from Malta’s harbour region. The finds discussed spanned Punic and Roman periods through the medieval era and into the time of the Knights and British rule, reflecting the area’s long and complex history. The talk explored a Punic‑to‑Roman necropolis that provided evidence for extensive habitation, a medieval agricultural landscape rich in features such as trenches and cisterns, and key discoveries uncovered during the Valletta regeneration project and works at the Bighi Naval Hospital, highlighting how development‑led archaeology reshaped understanding of Malta’s historic harbours.
