The Maltese festa has just been officially recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
This announcement comes as the decision was formalised during UNESCO’s eighteenth session of the 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆, taking place currently in Botswana.
The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage commends all responsible parties that have worked and contributed towards this national achievement of monumental importance to the local cultural heritage scene.
The Superintendence further expresses its gratitude to the mass of dedicated volunteers that make the festi a celebrated reality.
