European Archaeology Days (EAD) is an initative aimed at raising awareness among European citizens on the richness and cultural diversity of Europe by making archaeology more visible to differnet audiences and media. EAD seeks to create innovative and interactive activieis to introduce the public to the treasures of their national heritage and the secrets of the archaeological profession.

EAD is promoted by the French National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) within the French Ministry of Cultural and Research and is under the patronage of the Council of Europe. France has been celebrating EAD events at a national level since 2010 and in 2019 it took the decision to open participation to other European countries.  As from 2021, the Superintendence took on the role as the National Coordinator for European Archaeology Days. 

Today, EAD is celerabrated across Europe, with the event taking place every year on the third weekend of June.
